Sunfest Concerts is pleased to announce that Canadian country star Gord Bamford will be headlining the Thursday evening Kickoff Party at Sunfest on August 2. The Lacombe, Alberta artist released his fifth studio album Is It Friday Yet? March 6, 2012 and has already scored top ranking on iTunes (Canada) for his first single, “Is It Friday Yet?” and is generating incredible pre-release buzz over his upcoming single, “Leaning on a Lonesome Song.” Bamford is an award-winning singer-songwriter who has been a driving force on the Canadian country music scene for over a decade now. Some of his many hits include “Blame It On That Red Dress”, “Postcard From Pasadena”, “Drinkin’ Buddy” and "Stayed 'Til Two." He is a great addition to the festival and a fabulous way to Kickoff SUNFEST this August! "BUDWEISER" TO SPONSOR MECHANICAL BULL!  Yes that's right, ice cold BUDWEISER beer will be available this year in our Bevy garden! See you in August!! DIERKS BENTLEY DOES IT AGAIN!!! Dierks scored his 9th career number 1 song today with "Home," as it took the top spot on both the Billboard and Mediabase charts.
"It's been so cool to see fans reacting to this song on the road…the idea of 'Home' and what that means to different people has been really inspiring," said Dierks from tour in Australia. "I'm really proud to have written this song with my friends Brett Beavers and Dan Wilson, and it's extra special for me personally to be partof Dan's first No. one hit on the country charts!" The title track is also nominated for Song of the Year at the 47th Annual ACM Awards, which will air April 1st on CBS at 8pm ET. KENTUCKY HEADHUNTERS TO BE INDUCTED INTO THE KENTUCKY HALL OF FAME - 2013!!
  "> LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY - In ceremonies today at WKYT-TV (CBS) in Lexington, The Kentucky HeadHunters were named among the 2013 inductees into the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame.
In all, seven Kentucky born groups / artists will be inducted, also including Exile, The Hilltoppers, Steven Curtis Chapman, Skeeter Davis, Old Joe Clark and Emory & Linda Lou Martin.
The multi-platinum Grammy-winning HeadHunters has been touring constantly with massive hits like "Dumas Walker", "Walk Softly On This Heart of Mine" and "Oh Lonesome Me," and on Dixie Lullabies they remain true to themselves, blending elements of Blues, Country, English Rock, Rockabilly, Jazz, and, of course, Southern Rock. JASON MCCOY rocks the house with Dierks Bentley  2012 Country Album of the Year Juno nominee Jason McCoy will be firing up the stage as the opening act at Sunfest on Saturday night! The Ontario native is an award winning artist both as a solo performer and as the frontman of the hugely successful group The Road Hammers from 2005-2010. Combined, McCoy has three #1 hits to his credit and has scored well over a dozen Top 20 hits. His latest album Everything has delivered the chart-busting singles "She's Good For Me" and "I'd Still Have Everything", which is currently sitting at #4 on CMT's Top 20 Countdown. On Everything McCoy delivers everything from honky tonk to blues tinged barn burners like "Little Bit of Lovin" and will be sure to have Sunfest fans on their feet !
Kortney and Dave Wilson are musicians, reality TV stars, house flipppers, parents of three small children and hosts of their own request show! This busy duo met in Nashville as two struggling artists from Ontario who initially chased their music dream as solo artists. In an effort to spend more time together raising a family, pursuing music careers and flipping real estate to help pay the bills, Kortney and Dave came up with the idea of the reality TV show "Meet The Wilsons" which became a hit series on CMT. Our official MC's of the weekend and will perform and at Sunfest!! KENTUCKY HEADHUNTERS Join SUNFEST line up - Sunday, AUGUST 5TH!
Once known as the Itchy Brothers, the Kentucky HeadHunters have been creating a hybrid of honky-tonk, blues and Southern rock since 1968. The original band members, brothers Fred and Richard Young, their cousins, Greg Martin and Anthony Kenney, and Mark Orr played as the Itchy Brothers for over a dozen years and then split to launch separate careers. The group reunited as the Kentucky Headhunters in 1985. The band was signed to Mercury and released their first album, Pickin' On Nashville to critical acclaim. Their hits from the album, including "Dumas Walker" and "Oh, Lonesome Me" helped garner two CMA's, one for Album of the Year. Since 2000, the band has released Songs From the Grass String Ranch, Soul and Big Boss Man. Please send us your website link, MP3, EPK or mail your promo package to Sunfest Artist Submissions - 1540 Dingwall Road, Courtenay BC V9N 3S7. Please include in all packages a short 3-5 line bio, promo picture, and CD. The genre we are looking for is Country/Country Rock and all bands or artists will be contacted by March 15th and further details will be sent if chosen.
